COR Audits in Alberta: How We Can Help
Development of an HSE Management system based on a professional COR audit in Alberta is a valuable investment for your business.
Working in conjunction with SafeTech Consulting Group , we can assist with development of a program that aligns with COR/SECOR requirements.
Once a HSE Management System has been developed and implemented SafeTech can assist you with application into the Partnerships in Injury Reduction program through one of the 13 Certifying partners in Alberta.
Benefits of Obtaining COR Safety and SECOR Audits
Partnerships in Injury Reduction (PIR) is a voluntary pricing program that operates through the combined efforts of the Workers Compensation Board (WCB), the Ministry of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour, industry partners, safety associations, employers and labour groups. PIR is designed to encourage injury prevention and the development of effective workplace health, safety and disability management systems. All employers can participate in the PIR program and be eligible for refunds by maintaining a COR or SECOR.
It should also be noted that if you plan to bid on large contracts throughout Edmonton, Calgary and other Alberta areas, most require a valid COR or SECOR as a prerequisite.
Critical Components of a COR Audit in Alberta
Just as each company is an individual entity, the health and safety management system employed will be based on the scope and nature of your business. There are, however, common components that are necessary to have an effective program:
- The creation of a company-wide policy and management commitment
- Qualifications, orientation, and training of your workers
- Identifying hazards and how to control them
- Establishing ongoing inspection schedules as required
- Emergency response
- Investigation of incidents
- Ongoing program administration
Auditing for COR and SECOR Qualification
Once your company has established its health and safety management system, in order to qualify for COR and SECOR auditing must be performed. SafeTech Consulting Group can assist with setting up your COR or SECOR audit.
Audits are performed on each component of your health and safety management system to ensure they meet the Partnerships Standard. Once you receive your certificate, it is valid for one or three years provided all maintenance conditions are met. For the remaining two years of your certification, you must perform an annual maintenance audit and at the end of the three years, a recertification audit is required to maintain your COR or SECOR.
